ASSEDEL submitted a report for the call of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism

Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism has called for inputs on Global Study on the Impact of Counter-Terrorism Measures on Civil Society and Civic Space.

ASSEDEL contributed to the call with a report on the arbitrary decision practices of Turkish legal
system that began after 17/25 corruption cases and has reached its peak following the July 2016
coup attempt. The report emphasizes how the national and international legal systems had been
challenged and major principles such as ‘the principle of legality and certainty’ and ‘the universal
principle of non-retroactivity’ were disregarded in the country while dismissing and jailing its
own citizens.
