Mimosa: Illuminating the Directive on Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Europe

On November 22, 2023, at 17:00 CET, ASSEDEL, in collaboration with the second vice president of the European Parliament, Ms. Pina Picierno, proudly hosted a momentous movie screening event and a cocktail reception at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, in the distinguished setting of Room “Louise Weiss N 2.1.”

ASSEDEL, a leading advocate committed to combating violence against women and domestic violence, embarked on a journey to shine a bright light on the vital “Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on combating violence against women and domestic violence.” The event was not just a screening; it was a powerful initiative aimed at raising awareness and understanding of this pivotal Directive, which holds the key to eradicating violence against women and domestic violence within the European Union.

At the heart of this event was the screening of the poignant documentary, “Mimosa.” This film masterfully conveyed the profound importance of the Directive and its potential to transform the lives of women across Europe. It served as a poignant reminder that our commitment to combating violence against women and domestic violence must remain steadfast, and it urged us all to persist in our efforts.

ASSEDEL takes immense pride in organizing this event, which not only heightened awareness of the Directive but also contributed significantly to the ongoing endeavor to safeguard the rights and well-being of women in Europe. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and collaboration of Ms. Pina Picierno and the European Parliament in making this event a resounding success. Together, we take a solemn pledge to work tirelessly toward a Europe where violence against women and domestic violence are consigned to history, and every woman can live a life free from fear and harm.
