Prioritizing Hate Speech and Hate Crime as EU Crimes

ASSEDEL is committed to upholding human rights within the European Union. Our public opinion strongly supports the proposition on expanding the list of EU crimes to include hate speech and hate crime. These offenses pose a direct challenge to democratic values and fundamental rights, which are at the core of the EU’s principles.

In today’s digital age, the threat of hate speech has evolved, making it more critical than ever to address. Vulnerable groups often encounter barriers in reporting such crimes, emphasizing the pressing need for action, both legally and ethically.

ASSEDEL believes it is imperative for the EU to act swiftly to expand its definition of crimes, creating a more inclusive, just, and secure Europe that safeguards human rights and fundamental freedoms for all.
