ASSEDEL informed the Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic with a letter

Periodically, all over Türkiye, hundreds of people are being arrested for their humanitarian aid activities through simultaneous operations.

ASSEDEL draws the Commissioner’s attention to the recent and worrisome ‘re-organization operations’ against the Gülen movement members in Türkiye. In this context, the letter detailed the operations carried out in violation of many ECtHR jurisprudence, most notably the Yalçınkaya Grand Chamber judgment. The Commissioner was urged to call on the Turkish authorities to put an end to the unlawful crackdown and take all necessary measures.
