The prize is awarded on December 10 of each year since 1988, on Human Rights Day proclaimed by the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">The objective of the award is to recognize the fundamental role of civil society in the promotion and protection of human rights around the world.
